Presbyterian Women of St. Paul Presbyterian Church-is a service organization. All women who are members of the church are automatically members of Presbyterian Women. Projects vary from year to year, although some occur every year. National PW projects include the Least Coin, Thank Offering, and Mission Opportunities. Local support includes DMARC Food Pantry, Beacon of Life, Calvin Manor Auxiliary, and Blanket Sunday ( a Church World Service Project). PW also serves special occasions in St. Paul Church.
To the Women of St. Paul Church
Did you know that you were members of Presbyterian Women (PW) at St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Johnston? Actively contributing or not, you are. Many are not able to attend meetings, and many contribute to PW activities including PW Mission Opportunities program. All of you are appreciated.
PW national mission giving this year is to the Children’s Home Association in Council Bluffs, IA. More than 430 children and their families are served each day through their programs, services, and outreach activities. PW will be collecting the following school items to be delivers in early June:
- Pencils
- Ballpoint pens
- Tape
- Crayons
- Paper
- Rulers
- Glue
Note: If just one item is purchased when a big grocery shopping is done, the cost will hardly be noticed!
PW overseas giving goes to a central collection point for shipment to various missions and hospitals in Africa. Knitted and crocheted baby caps, baby gowns, and baby blankets are needed because these homemade items are treasured by the new mothers who receive them and because they are used as a valuable incentive to get expectant mothers to come to receive prenatal care and to deliver their babies. Also needed are new or barely used sheets (flat twin or double, colored or patterned). Items will be mailed in early June. Patterns are available from Polly Munck.
There will be a PW box on the shelves near the kitchen entrance for your donations.
Thank you,
Polly Munck
